We have always been into donating to our local animal shelters as well as volunteering and promoting their activities because we care deeply about animals. I (Erin) highly recommend looking into what you can do to help- sometimes it's as easy as donating your old sheets or picking up an extra bag of food at the store. However, lately, I've really gotten into exploring what I can do for the planet and wildlife. Climate change in so very concerning to me as is the rollback of many environmental protections including the endangered species act. It's time for me & us to do more. We are responsible for the planet. I've been donating to the World Wildlife Fund for a few years now and researching about different issues. Today, I wanted to see what I could do in my own backyard. If you are like me and have interest in helping our environment, here are some ideas you can try:
- Put water out for the neighborhood animals such as a bird bath. You can also purchase a window bird feeder for them, which is especially helpful in the winter. I got mine at Walmart for $9.
-Plant native flowers, bushes and trees for food & shelter of local animals.
-RECYCLE. Reuse plastic items like plastic bags, water bottles, and utensils.
-Save energy by car pooling or sharing rides and turning the lights off when you aren't in the room.
-Volunteer for plant trees in your community or get involved with a fundraiser that donates to companies such as One Tree Planted.
-Get involved in your local politics and support officials that vote & support bills that protect our planet.
